EL CENTRO • March 3 – Participants run as the Blue Angels practice overhead. The Fun Run is a family event and is followed by party with refreshments and awards. Participants run, walk with strollers or bike the course. The expected participation is 350 active duty.

EL CENTRO • March 9 - This event kicks off the NAF El Centro Air Show featuring the Navy’s Blue Angels and provides an opportunity to meet the Air Show performers. It includes food samplings from famous community restaurants, a kids’ zone and a fireworks display to top off the evening. The event includes a sponsor expo, entertainment, awards ceremony and door prizes. Open to the public with 5,000 participants.

EL CENTRO • March 10 - This annual event is held at NAF El Centro for both community and military families. Kicking off the air show season, this event features the Navy’s Blue Angels and attracts an audience from California and Arizona. Entertainment, sponsor expo, Air Show performer autograph opportunities, kids’ zone and preferred viewing areas make this a must-attend event. This open-to-the- public event attracts 40,000 participants.

ARMED FORCES TRIATHLON/ADMIRAL’S CUP TRIATHLON
VENTURA • June 23 - Two triathlons are held at Point Mugu Beach at Naval Base Ventura County in one day. The Armed Forces Triathlon is an Olympic-length invitational between the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, team Canada and individual competitors. The Admiral’s Cup is a half-distance event that is open to the public and local active duty athletes. The day attracts 500 attendees. 4th OF JULY FREEDOM FESTIVAL - PUBLIC EVENT
SEAL BEACH • July 4 - This annual event at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach invites military families and the public to enjoy live entertainment, a vendor village, arts and crafts, inflatables, casino tables, and a spectacular fireworks display to top off the day. The celebration attracts 2,000 attendees.

VENTURA COUNTY • August 18-19 - A surf contest on the well-known Point Mugu at Naval Base Ventura County gives locals, professionals and active duty military the chance to surf side by side on one of the best breaks in Southern California. The base is open to the public and attracts 200 surfers and 3,000 spectators in the two-day contest.

HAUNTED SWAMP - PUBLIC EVENT
VENTURA COUNTY • October 30-31 - Port Hueneme at Naval Base Ventura County’s pool is transformed into a haunted swamp and brave visitors cross the scary waters in rafts pulled by volunteer Navy divers. The haunted swamp is especially designed in the early hours with less gore for children, but the night hours are reserved for adults and those willing to experience fear! The event also includes a Halloween carnival with games for children. Open to the public, this fun event attracts 2,500 participants.

LEMOORE • December 1 - NAS Lemoore kicks off the holidays with the lighting of the A-4 parade jet decorated by the command, children and military volunteers. The event continues with the arrival of Santa by base fire truck, carolers, snacks, beverages and a lot of hometown fun for approximately 500 base families.

FALLON, NEVADA • December 24 – Sailors standing duty and away from home for the Holidays are treated to an event that includes a holiday dinner, games, entertainment and a tree ceremony.
