MWR movie theaters are open to all active duty, reservists, retirees, dependents, DoD civilians, contractors and their sponsored guests. Come one, come all - just come hungry! That's how we keep our movies FREE. The movie theater holds 162 patrons. Three guests will be admitted per ID card. To reserve the theater for parties, meetings or training sessions, please call 775-426-2580.

Parents, please carefully consider the content of a movie before bringing your children. R-rated movies contain adult material and are not suitable for young children.

Movie Synopsis

ADVENTURES OF TINTIN- Cast: Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost. Rated: PG for adventure action violence, some drunkenness and brief smoking. Genre: Kids/Family, Action/Adventure, Animation and Adaptation. Runtime: 107 min. Synopsis: Tintin is the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure.

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED- Cast: Jason Lee, David Cross, Justin Long, Jesse McCartney. Rated G. Genre: Animation, Adaptation, Kids/Family, Comedy and Sequel. Runtime: 85 min. Synopsis: The Chipmunks and The Chipettes (three female counterparts to the Chipmunks) go on a cruise trip with the Chipmunks' owner/manager/father figure, Dave Seville. During the cruise, the 'Munks and 'Ettes turn the ship into their personal playground, causing trouble and running amuck as they will. Eventually, their chaotic behavior gets them ship wrecked on the Isles of Scilly, everyone getting lost in the process. As Dave sets out to look for the lost chipmunk trios, the six find a new castaway on the island who turns out to be more than a match for the trios.

HUGO- Cast: Asa Butterfield, Chloe Mortez, Sacha Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Jude Law. Rated PG for mild thematic material, some action/peril and smoking. Genre: Drama, Adaptation and Kids/Family. Runtime: 121 min. Synopsis: Hugo is a wily and resourceful boy whose quest to unlock a secret left to him by his father will transform him and all those around him, and reveal a safe and loving place he can call home.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL- Cast: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Michael Nygvist. Rated: PG-13 for sequences of intense action and violence. Genre: Action/Adventure, Adaptation, Sequel and Thriller. Runtime: 133 min.
Synopsis: Blamed for the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, IMF operative Ethan Hunt is disavowed along with the rest of the agency when the President initiates "Ghost Protocol". Left without any resources or backup, Ethan must find a way to clear his agency's name and prevent another attack. To complicate matters further, Ethan is forced to embark on this mission with a team of fellow IMF fugitives whose personal motives he does not fully know.

NEW YEAR’S EVE- Cast: Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel. Rated: PG-13 for language including some sexual references. Genre: Romance and Comedy. Runtime: 117 min. Synopsis: The intertwining stories of a group of New Yorkers as they navigate their way through romance over the course of New Year's Eve.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: GAME OF SHADOWS- Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Stephen Fry, Jared Harris. Rated: PG-13 for language and intense action. Genre: Adaptation, Action/Adventure and Sequel. Runtime: 130 min. Synopsis: Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large - Professor Moriarty - and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective. Holmes' investigation into Moriarty's plot becomes ever more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London and across Europe, to France, Germany and finally to Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead as he spins a web of death and destruction - all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history.

THE SITTER- Cast: Jonah Hill, Max Records, Ari Graynor, JB Smoove, Sam Rockwell. Rated R for crude and sexual content, pervasive language, drug material and some violence. Genre: Comedy. Runtime: 82 min. Synopsis: Noah is a suspended college student, living at home with his single mom. When he is talked into babysitting the three, young, misfit kids next door, he decides to take them along on an attempted sexual rendezvous, and the night takes a wild and dangerous turn for the worse for which he is totally unprepared.

WAR HORSE- Cast: Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Thewlis, Emily Watson, Toby Kebbell. Rated: PG-13 for intense sequences of war violence. Genre: Action/Adventure, Adaptation and Drama. Runtime: 146 min. Synopsis: A friendship begins between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the horse moves through the First World War, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets -- British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter.

WE BOUGHT A ZOO- Cast: Matt Damon, Colin Ford, Thomas Church, Scarlett Johansson, Patrick Fugit. Rated: PG for language and some thematic elements. Genre: Adaptation and Drama. Runtime: 126 min. Synopsis: Based on a true story, Benjamin Mee is a recently-widowed father who moves his family to beautiful estate miles outside the city. The only catch is that the estate is also a dilapidated zoo replete with 200 animals, and the purchase of the home is conditional on the new owner keeping the zoo and its entire staff. The Mee family subsequently sets out to rebuild and refurbish the zoo to its former glory, making new friends along the way.

In an effort to provide more accurate movie rating information and to assist you in making appropriate viewing decisions, MWR has incorporated a more detailed rating system.

The website www.kids-in-mind.com uses a scale of 0-10 to rate the amount of Sex/Nudity (S/N), Violence/Gore (V/G) & Profanity (P) in each movie.

0 = Little or No Content in that Category
10 = Extreme Content in that Category
