Race Course

Bridge Run Race CourseThis is a sanctioned USAT&F 4-mile course. Our start line is at One Park Blvd. at Harbor Drive between the Hilton San Diego Bayfront and the San Diego Convention Center and travels south along Harbor Drive to Cesar E. Chavez Parkway. Participants head east to National Avenue, then up and over the Coronado Bay Bridge. The race finishes in Coronado’s Tidelands Park. Expect flat streets, an incline up the bridge and a decline down the bridge. Walkers are encouraged to bring cameras to take some great photos of San Diego and Coronado from on top of the bridge! Baby strollers, wheelchairs and guide dogs are permitted. Skateboards, bikes, in-line skates, and pets are prohibited.

Chip Timing

Click here for timing chip instructionsPlace your timing chip on your shoe. Your timing chip is the orange colored bar attached to the top of your race bib number. This will need to be separated from your race bib number and worn on your shoe. Form a “D” shape with the timing chip and position with the number face up. Either foot is acceptable. Detailed instructions are on the back of this information sheet. No need to be head of the pack! Your official race time begins when you step on the timing mat directly under the CHIP TIMING scaffolding.

Runner's Gear Storage

You may check in your warm-ups at the start line near registration. Clearly mark the bag with your race bib number. Do not pack valuables. MWR is not responsible for lost items. Bags may be claimed at the finish line when you present your race bib number.

Padres Game Ticket

All registered participants receive a ticket to the June 3, 2012 San Diego Padres game! The Padres take on the Arizona Diamondback in a 3:35 pm game. Padres tickets are only distributed at the pre-race registration events and on race day at the finish line. Additional pre-purchased Padres vouchers are mailed along with bibs. No refunds or replacements for lost or missing Padres vouchers. Seats to PETCO are dispersed throughout the upper decks. Pick up your tickets together to sit by friends and family! Tickets are available while supplies last.

Bib Numbers

Bridge Run Bib NumbersAll participants MUST wear their race bib number on the front in order to cross the Coronado Bridge. The number is required to record your time and place and redeem your Padres ticket. Do not remove or pin the tear-off tag, or alter the number in any way. Numbers are non-transferable so no one else may wear a number assigned to you.

T-Shirts

Bridge Run T-ShirtsHigh-quality 26th Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk commemorative T-shirts are distributed to all registered participants at the pre-race registration events and at the finish line in Tidelands Park. You must present your actual race bib number to claim your T-shirt.

Post Run/Walk Party

Bridge Run Post-Run/Walk PartyInvite your friends to cheer for you at the finish line and celebrate at the post race party at Tidelands Park in Coronado. Enjoy refreshments, live music and sponsor booths. Make plans to stick around for the awards presentation and terrific drawing prizes from approximately 9:45-10:30 am You must be present to win drawing prizes.

Balboa Warrior Athlete Program

Bridge Run Balboa Warrior Athlete ProgramFor the sixth year, the Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk is proud to host athletes from the Balboa Warrior Athlete Program (BWAP) through the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). BWAP is a program created for recovering injured military, veterans and dependents to play adaptive and Paralympics sports, assist rehabilitation and to “renew” quality of life. Look for the BWAP group at the start or finish of the race and give the athletes a hand for their service and participation!

Command Challenge

Win the title of "Largest Participating Bridge Run/Walk Command" by participating in the non-race competitive Command Challenge. Assemble the largest group of military members, families and friends. Have each person register individually and write the command name in the Command Challenge space provided on the entry form. Register the most participants and your command wins the title and a sponsor-provided prize. The Command Challenge is NOT a competitive military running team. See below for military running team information.

Competitive Running Team

The 26th Original Bay Bridge Run/Walk is looking for competitive running teams of five (5) people to compete in either the MILITARY or CIVILIAN division. Assemble your group of five (5) running members, register together as a group and compete. The top three MILITARY and top three CIVILIAN Running Teams are presented an autographed Padres Baseball Award during the awards ceremony at the end of the race.

Pre-Race Food & Beverage Kiosks

Available at the RACE START. Avoid the morning rush! Plan on getting to the race early, bring a few dollars and enjoy a yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice or other light breakfast item. Food and beverage items for purchase provided by Hilton San Diego Bayfront.

Water

Bridge Run WaterAn ample supply of water is available at the start and finish lines and also before the bridge at Chicano Park. It is your responsibility to remain sufficiently hydrated throughout the race.

Unique Awards

Bridge Run Unique AwardsAutographed Padres Baseball Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each age and team division at the awards table. The overall male and female first place finishers are invited to throw out the opening pitches at the June 3, 2012 Padres game.
