Facility use and most fitness classes are FREE to all active duty, reservists, retirees, dependents and DoD civilians. Civilian contractors and guests (where authorized) are required to pay a small fee for use of facilities and classes.

MWR Youth Group Swim Lessons
Learn to swim with the MWR Aquatics professionals! We provide a safe and
fun aquatic learning environment following the American Red Cross swim lesson standards for beginning through advanced swimmers. Ages 3 & up 2-week sessions available through August $45/session

Private Lessons: (four 30-minute lessons) Swimming lessons are available year-round to swimmers of all ages and abilities. Whether you are interested in learning to swim or training for your next triathlons, our trained Water Safety Instructors can help you meet your aquatic goals.

Point Loma Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are available at the SUBASE Pool year-round. During the summer months you may choose from three types of lessons offered.

LEARN TO SCUBA DIVE!
Learn to dive safely through education! MWR offers one and two-week scuba classes from basic through instructor at Naval Station, NAS North Island, Naval Amphibious Base and Naval Submarine Base. Classes start weekly and are given in the evenings. Each night class consists of pool and classroom training with five weekend ocean dives in La Jolla. Upon completion of the course students receive a lifetime certification through NAUI, the most respected name in diver training. All equipment is provided for the BASIC Course except booties and gloves.

Try out the new heated pool and children’s wading pool next to the Island Club at North Island! You’ll be in pool heaven as you relax under the cabanas, and enjoy the picnic tables, lounge chairs and spacious lawn! Men’s and women’s locker rooms are available, as well as ample parking. American Red Cross Swim classes with a Dedicated Lifeguard on deck are available for (Call for fee). Sign-ups are taken during Island Pool’s regular pool hours on a first-come, first-served basis. NOTICE
No lifeguards are on duty at Gator Beach. This beach is off limits for swimming, wading, surfing or body boarding at any time. Breakers Beach at NAS North Island is lifeguard staffed.

The swimming pool offers a large 40ft waterslide for those patrons who pass a swimming test given by staff lifeguards. Heated outdoor pool. Ideal for kids and teens. Wading pool for infants and smaller children.
